Green Mountain Christian Church is a non denominational church associated with the Restoration Movement (Independent Christian Churches and Churches of Christ). We believe we are called to be disciples who make disciples, sharing the love and hope of Jesus to our neighborhood, community, nation, and the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is one God in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is the creator and sustains all of the\u00a0universe and all living things. He is perfect in holiness and righteousness, exists independently of his\u00a0creation, and yet is deeply involved within it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jesus Christ is the Son of God incarnate, eternally existent and uncreated. He is the second person of the Trinity, both fully God and fully human. Through him, God created the universe. Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, was crucified as a substitutionary atonement for sin, was buried, and was then raised by God in physical resurrection. He now serves as our high priest and mediator between God and people and will return again to judge all of humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, and as such is fully God. He convicts people of sin and the need for salvation, dwells in the life of the believer, makes Jesus Christ known to us, counsels us in the truth, and empowers us to live holy lives pleasing to God. Having inspired the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit is the teacher of God\u2019s Word and the guide for daily living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We hold the Bible to be God\u2019s inspired Word without error, and everything we need for knowledge of living faithfully in obedience to God. The Bible was written by the authority of the prophets and Apostles under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The Old and New Testaments are the supreme and final authority for faith and life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Human beings are the only creatures made in the image of God. As such, we believe that human life is of supreme value. Human beings are both physical and spiritual creatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sin is a lack of conforming to the will and character of God. It is an action, attitude, or lifestyle that misses\u00a0the mark of God\u2019s perfect holiness and alienates us from God. We believe that everyone is guilty of sin, and that in His love He desires all to come to repentance and be reconciled to him rather than be condemned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. We also believe that marriage is the religious and social blessing of the only kind of relationship that naturally produces children \u2013 male and female together. As such, God has ordained marriage to bind together one biological man and one biological woman, exclusively for life, to provide children with a mother and a father, and to model Christ\u2019s love for his church. Any sexual relationship outside of male-female marriage, as well as any denial of one\u2019s biological sex, is a rebellion against God and his created order. We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of Green Mountain Christian Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Salvation is not earned by anything we do, but is achieved solely through the work of Jesus Christ \u2013 His perfect obedience, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection and exaltation as Lord. It is offered only by God\u2019s grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe Scripture affirms that the normative way to express faith in Christ and personally participate in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus is through baptism by immersion in water. In salvation, we are justified (declared innocent of all of our sins), sanctified (set apart as holy in God\u2019s sight and conformed to his image), and will one day be glorified (resurrected in the New Heavens and New Earth).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Church is the body and bride of Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit to go out into the world and make disciples of all nations. It is comprised of all believers, past, present, and future, expressed in individual local churches that gather in weekly, communal worship of God. The church is to be the salt of the earth and light of the world, proclaiming, defending, and living the good news of Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We believe that as the Lord Jesus ascended to his Father, so he will return personally, visibly, and in glory. He will raise the dead and bring salvation and judgment to final completion. God will then fully establish his Kingdom and finish the new creation \u2013 a new heaven and a new earth from which all evil and evildoers, all suffering and death, will be excluded and in which God will be glorified forever.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
